In Cloppenburg, another Knauber LNG filling station, made by Noordtec, was commissioned last week.

To prepare for filling with LNG and to check the system, the tank was first filled with liquid nitrogen. The nitrogen was discharged back into the atmosphere via a blower once the tank had cooled down. Since our air consists of 78% nitrogen, this can be done without any issue. This procedure is not only used to test the system’s functions, but is also important to prepare the system for the cold -162°C temperature of the LNG, so that the cooled system can then be filled for official operation.

The official opening will take place on 8 June 2023.
